Purpose: The purpose of these four programs is to display the critical values from the chi-squared, f-, t- and z-distributions. The critical values are given for a variety of alpha levels.Download: You can download this program from within Stata by typing search probtabl (see How can I use the search command to search for programs and get additional help? for more information about using search).
Use of program: To use these programs, type one of the following commands in the Stata command window: chitable ftable ttable ztable. A number indicating the desired degrees of freedom can be placed after the chitable and ttable commands. The option alpha(#) can be added to the ftable command. There are no options available for the ztable command.
Examples: The following shows the output from issuing the chitable command, which gives the critical values of chi-square for a variety of degrees of freedom and alpha levels.
The following shows the output from issuing the ftable command, which gives the critical values of F for a variety of degrees of freedom at the .05 alpha level.
The following shows the output from issuing the ttable command, which gives the critical values of t for a variety of degrees of freedom at various levels of alpha for both a one- and a two-tailed test.
The following shows the output from issuing the ztable command, which gives the critical values of z.
