This page was adapted from a page at the Stata Bookstore page. We thank Stata for their permission to adapt and distribute this page via our web site. We are very grateful to Professor Lawrence Hamilton for granting us permission to distribute the data files for Regression with Graphics.
This page describes the 42 data files used in Regresion with Graphics. Information on the individual data files, including the original source, is provided below. Note that the datasets used in the book sometimes diverge from the original in that they contain only a subset of the variables or observations. Please also give credit to the original researchers, though, if you write about or otherwise use the data. The datasets are documented under the chapter in which they first appear.
Downloading All of the Files
If you want to download all of the files, we suggest you create a new directory, such as c:rwg , and copy the files there. If you wanted to make and use this directory, you would type…
mkdir c:rwg cd c:rwg
To copy all of the files, type
net from https://stats.idre.ucla.edu/stat/stata/examples/ net get rwg
(Note: If you try to copy the files to the same directory with the files from Statistics with Stata 5, Stata will give an error since some of the files have the same name, but different information. We suggest storing these files in separate directories.)
Using Individual Files
If you prefer, you can simply use any of the files individually over the internet. Suppose you wanted to use the nuketest.dta file. You would type
use https://stats.idre.ucla.edu/stat/stata/examples/rwg/nuketest
Descriptions of the Files
For more information on the files, see Description of Data Files and Sources of Data .
